About Outlaw Star
Outlaw Star follows Gene Starwind winning the XGP with Melfina against Kei pirates to the Galactic Leyline. The series runs 26 episodes in 1998 through Hot Springs and MacDougall arcs. Angel Links in 1999 follows bodyguard Meifon in the same universe with Dragonite pirates across 13 episodes.
Watch Outlaw Star first since Angel Links assumes the outlaw tech and pirate tone. The shows share universe rules but not the same crew, so gaps need no bridging OVA. No sequel Outlaw Star has been dated past Sword of Wind plans, which leaves the Sunrise pair as the set.

Broadcast order is story order with Angel Links as a side track. Outlaw Star sets caster shell rules slowly through jobs, so give it six episodes. Angel Links runs faster with bodyguard cases, which lands better once pirate tech is known. Treat Angel Links as an optional second after Outlaw Star rather than required, with the Leyline close as canon.
