About Psycho-Pass
Psycho-Pass tracks Public Security inspectors in a Tokyo run by the Sibyl System, starting with Akane Tsunemori across season 1 in 2012 and season 2 in 2014. The 2015 film sends Akane abroad after rogue Kogami. The 2019 Sinners of the System trilogy fills gaps around those years, then season 3 from 2019 with First Inspector in 2020 moves to new leads Arata and Kei.
Providence from May 2023 slots before season 3 in story terms, set in January 2118 around the Stronskaya papers. Release order still works best, since Providence was written to reframe season 3 after you know its cast. Chronological order only moves Providence ahead of season 3 and pulls one Sinners case to the front.
Good to know
Start in release order. Season 1 is the entry point the rest assumes, and Sinners Case 2 is a 2112 prequel that plays better once you know Division One. The Extended Edition of season 1 is a re-edit and stays out of the list. Providence is canon to the film path and can be watched as a bridge into season 3, but save it until after the Sinners trilogy so its returning faces register.
