Shigurui adapts Takayuki Yamaguchi's manga about rivals Fujiki and Seigen under Kogan with the Shooting Star technique. The 12 episodes aired July 19 to October 11, 2007.

The dojo cruelty and technique threads only resolve if you track each scar week to week through the tournament frame. The cicadas scream through every dojo pause with sweat and straw-mat rustle.
