About Vinland Saga
Vinland Saga follows Thorfinn from revenge to redemption across two seasons from different studios. Season 1 from Wit Studio in 2019 adapts the War arc through Askeladd's death, and season 2 from MAPPA in 2023 adapts the Slave arc on Ketil's farm where Thorfinn renounces violence.
The manga by Makoto Yukimura finished its run, so the remaining Eastern Expedition material exists to adapt. No third season has been dated, which leaves the anime paused after the farm while the full story already sits complete on paper for readers.
Good to know
Watch season 1 then season 2 in order, since the farm season only works as a response to the revenge season. The tone shift between them is deliberate rather than a studio problem, though the Wit to MAPPA handoff shows in the art. Readers can continue from the Eastern Expedition chapters while waiting on anime date news that has not arrived yet.
