About Futurama
Futurama premiered on Fox on March 28, 1999, was cancelled in 2003, and has been revived three times since: four direct-to-DVD films from 2007 to 2009, a Comedy Central run from 2010 to 2013, and a Hulu run from 2023 onward. Fox produced the first 72 episodes as four seasons but broadcast them shuffled across five, so production order, which is what the box sets use, is the better way through the Fox years.
The films were written as features and then cut into four episodes each for Comedy Central, which is why streaming numbers them as season 6 and starts the 2010 run at season 7. Season 14 is the current season: ten episodes from August 3 to September 28, 2026, with the finale airing September 28.
Good to know
Numbering is the confusing part. Production numbering calls the films season 5 and the Hulu seasons 8 to 11, while broadcast and streaming numbering calls the films season 6 and the Hulu seasons 11 to 14. Both lists below use the same numbering scheme throughout so you can tell which is which. The only announced extra is a set of three XXXL specials ordered July 25, 2026, the first Christmas themed and expected in 2027.
