About Inspector Gadget
Inspector Gadget began with DiC's 1983 series of 86 episodes about the bionic inspector missing every clue while Penny and Brain solve the MAD plots. The live-action films in 1999 and 2003 recast with Matthew Broderick around the Gadget program origin. The 2015 Teletoon's reboot ran 52 episodes to 2018 with new voices for Gadget, Penny and a teen Talon.
Each version resets the Gadget family and Dr. Claw's face with no shared timeline, so the original, the films and the reboot all start clean. No new series has been announced beyond the reboot's close, leaving Metro City quiet on screen.
Good to know
Start with the 1983 original for the classic theme and the Penny-does-everything formula, then the 2015 reboot as the modern take. The live-action films work as alternates after either series with their own Gadget origin. Later specials and the Gadget Boy spinoff share only the bionics idea, safe as extras outside the main runs.
