About Liberty's Kids

Liberty's Kids follows teen reporters Sarah, James and Henri as they cover the American Revolution for Franklin's newspaper. Each episode pairs a newsroom debate with a real event from 1773 to 1789. The PBS series aired forty episodes in 2002 and 2003.

Early episodes cover the Tea Party, the Intolerable Acts and Lexington. Middle chapters move through Bunker Hill, the Declaration and Valley Forge. Later episodes follow Saratoga, the French alliance and Yorktown. The reporting frame assumes you have met the printers and spies earlier, so jumping ahead hides why later loyalties shift.

Good to know

Watch episodes in broadcast order, which matches historical order. There is no alternate chronology to try, since the Revolution only happened one way. The show includes a few out-of-sequence repeats on some platforms, so use the official episode numbers from one to forty. Classrooms can pick single events once students know the three leads, but first-time viewers get more from the full march to Yorktown.
