About Samurai Jack

Samurai Jack ran four seasons on Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2004 as Jack hunted a way back to the past, ending without a finale when the show stopped. The episodes stay mostly standalone, with the Guardian and baby Jack threads teasing an ending that never came at the time.

Adult Swim revived the show for season 5 in 2017 with ten episodes that age Jack fifty years, close the Aku fight, and end the story for good. The revival assumes knowledge of the original run but reintroduces Aku cleanly, so returning viewers catch up fast and newcomers should start at season 1.

Good to know

Watch seasons 1 through 4 in broadcast order, then season 5 as the finale, since the revival pays off threads from across the original run. The original episodes work out of order as samurai fables, but the premiere and the season 5 arc need their places. No further seasons are planned, so the 2017 ending is the definitive close.
