About The Raggy Dolls

The Raggy Dolls follows seven reject dolls in Mr Grimes factory bin with Sad Sack, Dotty, Hi-Fi, Lucy, Back-To-Front, Claude and Princess. Yorkshire TV made the first run with Orchid taking over from 1987 as the first indie commission. Series 1 opens with Flying Machine in April 1986, series 9 ends with Bored in December 1994.

Melvyn Jacobson created the run with Neil Innes on scripts, narration and music. Series 5 adds traveller doll Ragamuffin in November 1990, series 8 ends with Grimes wedding. Repeats ran on Carlton Kids and Tiny Pop. DVDs cover series 1 to 4 with series 5 never released. No tenth series was ordered.

Good to know

Watch series 1 to 9 in TX order. Start with the 1986 machine and birthday run, continue through balloon, storm and witch years, then finish the 1994 honeymoon to bored run. Counts vary by source, but 112 across nine series is the consensus against split tables. The live stage and VHS packs reuse episodes rather than adding canon.
