Good to know
Watch the 1983 film, then series 1 through 4, then the 1989 film, then Oh Mr Toad. The pilot sets Toad Hall and the friendships that the series assumes. Tale of Two Toads bridges the gap before the retitled run. Episodes stand alone, but keep TX order for cast and song changes. The 65 episodes plus two films are the full set.
