About Wacky Races
Wacky Races began with Hanna-Barbera in 1968 about eleven racers chasing the finish with Dick Dastardly cheating every leg. The show ran 34 episodes to 1970 with Penelope Pitstop and the Ant Hill Mob inside. Dastardly and Muttley spun off in 1969, the Perils of Penelope Pitstop in 1969, and the 2017 Boomerang reboot ran 52 episodes with new voices.
Each version resets the starting grid with no shared timeline, so every run starts clean. The 2020 Scoob! film borrows Dastardly for its own outing, sitting apart as a guest spot rather than a series chapter.
Good to know
Start with the 1968 run for the classic cheating formula, then the Dastardly and Penelope spinoffs as their own shows. The 2017 reboot works after as the modern take with longer stories and the same cheating. Later versions reuse the Mean Machine with new voices, so treat each as its own starting grid of rival racers.
