About Battlefield
Battlefield started with 1942 in 2002 and built its name on large maps with vehicles and squads. Vietnam, Battlefield 2 and 2142 followed through 2006. Bad Company in 2008 added a console campaign, with Bad Company 2 in 2010 and Battlefield 3 in 2011 pushing the Frostbite engine.
Battlefield 4, Hardline, 1 and V ran from 2013 to 2018 across modern, crime and world war settings. After 2042 in 2021, Battlefield 6 arrived October 10, 2025 with the free battle royale REDSEC on October 28. Live seasons are still running, so the series is active as of September 2026.
Good to know
There is no story order for Battlefield. Each game resets with a new setting and cast, from WWI to 2142, except Bad Company 1 into 2 and Battlefield 3 into 4. Play in release order and treat each entry as standalone. Chronological by setting would scatter sequels, so it is not worth listing as a second path.
