About Black Myth
Black Myth Wukong launched August 20, 2024 on PS5 and PC, with Xbox following in August 2025, and became the year's best selling single player release with a Steam concurrent record. You play the Destined One through boss driven chapters that retell Journey to the West from unexpected angles.
Black Myth Zhong Kui was unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2025 as the second entry, built around the folk figure who wanders between hell and earth. Game Science showed 15 minutes of work in progress combat in August 2026 and says the game is early, with no date set and talk of 2028 only a guess.
Good to know
Play Wukong first, then Zhong Kui once it releases. Game Science calls Zhong Kui a new title rather than DLC, with its own hero and folklore thread, so it will slot after Wukong in both orders. The studio also discussed Wukong DLC, but nothing dated has been announced, so it stays out of the list for now.
