The practical path: originals or remake, then Crash 4.

About Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot runs on two tracks: the Naughty Dog originals and everything after. The 1996 original, Cortex Strikes Back in 1997 and Warped in 1998 form the trilogy, with Team Racing in 1999 as the kart coda to that era.

Later entries like Wrath of Cortex, Twinsanity and the Skylanders years vary in canon, so the modern path jumps to the N. Sane Trilogy remake in 2017, Nitro-Fueled in 2019, and Crash 4: It's About Time in 2020 as the direct Warped sequel. Team Rumble from 2023 is the multiplayer extra, and no new mainline game has been dated.

Good to know

New players should take the modern path of N. Sane Trilogy then Crash 4, since 4 ignores the middle years and continues straight from Warped. Purists can play the 1990s originals plus Team Racing instead with the same story beats. The in-between games work as optional curiosities, and the series waits on a dated next step.
