About Eternal Darkness
Eternal Darkness released in 2002 on GameCube from Silicon Knights, following Alex Roivas as she reads the Tome of Eternal Darkness across two thousand years. Each chapter hands a new ancestor a magick rune set against Pious Augustus and the Ancients, from Roman soldier to Gulf War fireman. The game uses limb targeting, sanity meter tricks and rune crafting.
The sanity system fakes saves, mutes sound and breaks the fourth wall as Alex meter drops. The finale needs all three Ancients runs for the true ending path. No sequel was produced, so the single game forms the complete story. Play chapters in order for the rune lessons to stack toward the Ehn'gha finale.
Good to know
Play the Tome chapters in order from Roman camp to Ehn'gha finale, since rune lessons stack toward the true ending. Guard sanity with finishers and spells because low meter triggers fake errors and control gags. Target limbs on zombies and horrors to save ammo across long chapters. Three full Ancients runs reveal the true finale, so expect replays with new rune colors each time.
