About HAL Laboratory
HAL Laboratory found its mascot with Kirby's Dream Land on April 27, 1992 for Game Boy. The studio then built Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64 in 1999 and Kirby 64 in 2000, followed by Melee for GameCube in 2001 and Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land for GBA in 2002.
Later work splits between Smash support, Kirby and small originals. HAL assisted on Brawl in 2008, supervised Good-Feel's Kirby's Epic Yarn in 2010, then launched BoxBoy! in 2015 for 3DS and Part Time UFO in 2017 for mobile. Forgotten Land arrived March 25, 2022 for Switch as HAL's first full 3D Kirby. The Switch 2 Edition with Star-Crossed World followed August 28, 2025, and Kirby Air Riders arrived November 20, 2025 as a Sakurai-directed racer.

Brawl was led by Sora with HAL as support, and Kirby's Epic Yarn was led by Good-Feel with HAL supervising. Part Time UFO started on mobile in 2017 and reached Switch in 2020. Remakes like Nightmare in Dream Land stand in for the 1993 original.
