About Hollow Knight
Hollow Knight launched in February 2017 from Team Cherry about the Knight descending through Hallownest toward the Radiance. Four free expansions followed in 2017 and 2018 with Grimm Troupe, Lifeblood, Godmaster and the Godhome pantheons. Hollow Knight: Silksong released September 4, 2025 with Hornet climbing Pharloom after her capture, topping charts as the most anticipated indie sequel.
Team Cherry built both games with no roadmaps beyond release, and no third game has been announced as of 2026. The Pale Court lore hides across dream-nail dialogue, so the story assumes exploration rather than cutscenes.
Good to know
Play Hollow Knight first with its expansions in release order, since movement abilities and the dream lore assume the full descent. Silksong fits after as Hornet's separate climb with new silk systems. The pantheon endings gate behind hard bosses, so expect the true finales to demand more than the main path.
