About Ori
Ori began with Moon Studios' Ori and the Blind Forest (2015) about the spirit Ori restoring Nibel with Sein's light. The Definitive Edition (2016) added the Black Root Burrows and Naru's backstory around the same map. Will of the Wisps (2020) moves Ori to Niwen with the owl Ku, closing the light-and-decay arc across a larger world.
Moon Studios moved on to No Rest for the Wicked after 2020 with no third Ori dated as of 2026. The two games share movement language around bashing and burrowing, with the sequel assuming the first game's escape rhythm.
Good to know
Play the Definitive Edition over the 2015 original, then Will of the Wisps, since the Black Root additions fill Ori's past directly. The escape sequences demand the most retries in both games, so expect the finales to test everything learned. No DLC exists beyond the editions, so the two purchases cover the complete story.
