About Pac-Man

Pac-Man opened in 1980 as Toru Iwatani's maze chase for Namco, and became gaming's first mascot with Midway's North American release. Ms. Pac-Man followed in 1981 as the authorized sequel, and the Championship Edition series from 2007 reinvented the maze for Xbox Live leaderboards.

The World trilogy took Pac-Man platforming from 1999 to 2005, with the Re-Pac remake in 2022, while Museum collections bundle the arcade run. Play the 1980 original first, then Ms. Pac-Man and Championship Edition for the maze evolution, then the World games. Each branch stands alone, so release order is a tour of the maze's reinventions.

Good to know

Release order tours three branches: maze originals, Championship time-attack, and World platformers. The arcade originals play in minutes each, while the World games are full 3D adventures, so budget accordingly. Museum+ from 2022 bundles most maze games for modern systems. The franchise stays active with no announced endpoint, so this post remains open.
