About Painkiller
Painkiller arrived in 2004 from People Can Fly with Daniel Garner collecting souls through Hell chapters. Battle Out of Hell followed in 2004 as expansion. Overdose landed in 2007 with Belial. Resurrection and Redemption closed runs into 2012.
No new game was made after 2012 with rights shifting. Play the original first, then Battle Out of Hell, then Overdose. Later chapters reuse the arena loop. The series rests with multiplayer mods carrying it. The stake gun pins through every demon wave with rattling chains and fire.
Good to know
There is no strict timeline since chapters reset Hell arenas, so release order is the practical path. Original first teaches tarot cards. Battle Out of Hell adds winter chapters. Overdose adds Belial with new weapons. Later entries are lower-budget chapters for after the core three. Treat the series as finished in 2012.
