About Skylanders
Skylanders paired action figures with a portal reader starting with Spyro's Adventure in 2011. Giants added larger figures in 2012. Swap Force introduced swappable halves in 2013. Trap Team added trappable villains in 2014.
SuperChargers added vehicles in 2015 with a separate Racing version on Wii and 3DS. Imaginators closed the run in 2016 with custom hero creation plus Crash and Cortex guests. Activision put the series on hiatus in 2017 with no console reboot since. The mobile Ring of Heroes ran 2018 to 2022 and is now offline.
Good to know
Play in release order because figures and traps stay compatible forward through the portals. Older portals work on newer games with limits, but newer figures do not work backward. Story continuity is light, Kaos returns each time, so release order also matches plot. Treat the series as finished at Imaginators in 2016. Rumors of a reboot have no official date or studio confirmation.
