About SOCOM
SOCOM started in August 2002 on PS2 with US Navy SEALs squad shooting built for online play with the headset. SOCOM II in 2003 and SOCOM 3 in 2005 expanded maps and vehicles. The PSP run added Fireteam Bravo in 2005, Bravo 2 in 2006 and Tactical Strike in 2007.
Combined Assault in 2006 paired with Bravo 2, Confrontation in 2008 went online only on PS3, Bravo 3 hit PSP in 2010 and SOCOM 4 arrived April 2011 as Special Forces in Europe. Zipper closed in 2012 and all old servers shut down. No new SOCOM has been announced as of September 2026.
Good to know
There is no story order that matters for SOCOM. Missions follow modern operations in order but share no arc beyond squad tactics, so release order is the only list. SOCOM 4 is the lone campaign endpoint worth reaching. The PSP entries play fine in order but need no online now. The series is dormant since 2011.
