About STALKER
STALKER drops loners into the Chernobyl Zone hunting artifacts between Duty and Freedom patrols, starting with Shadow of Chernobyl from 2007. Clear Sky from 2008 rewinds to the faction wars that caused the first game's events, and Call of Pripyat follows days after Shadow's ending.
Heart of Chornobyl from November 2024 continues the Zone years later with Skif, and the Cost of Hope expansion from August 2026 adds a Duty and Freedom branching campaign. Console trilogy ports and an Enhanced Edition collect the originals. New players should use release order; Clear Sky first suits returning stalkers.
Good to know
Story order differs because Clear Sky is a prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl. First-timers should still use release order, since Clear Sky assumes comfort with anomalies and artifacts. Call of Pripyat closes the original trilogy. Heart of Chornobyl stands years later with a new lead. A second expansion is covered by the Ultimate Edition season pass with no title or date yet.
