About The Typing of the Dead
The Typing of the Dead from Sega started in Japanese arcades in 1999 as a mod of House of the Dead 2 where players type words to kill zombies in Venice. It reached Dreamcast in 2000, PC in 2000 and PS2 in 2004. The Typing of the Dead 2 followed in 2007 in Japan on PC based on House of the Dead 3.
The Typing of the Dead Overkill arrived October 29, 2013 on Steam based on House of the Dead Overkill with Bayou County stages and DLC dictionaries. Each game reuses its light gun story, so any order works, but release order shows typing mechanics best. No new entry has been announced.
Good to know
Release order matches difficulty growth since Overkill adds co op and custom dictionaries. The 1999 original needs a keyboard and runs short at two hours. Overkill supports two player online typing and Shakespeare DLC packs. Play on Steam for modern Windows support since Dreamcast needs adapters. Expect campy voice acting and B movie horror throughout.
