About Vandal Hearts

Vandal Hearts follows Ash Lambert and the Crimson Guard against the holy empire of Dolf in the 1996 original on PlayStation, using isometric grid maps with terrain height, class changes and timed reinforcements. The story covers prison breaks, ruined villages and cathedral sieges, with archers and healers holding chokepoints while Ash levels through weapon paths.

Vandal Hearts II arrived in 1999 with Joshua Kerachi and branching routes tied to choices with Leena, adding dual turn movement and weapon skill trees across Natra. Flames of Judgment came in 2009 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with Tobias Martin, trap tiles and magic combos. Konami led the run, so play in release order to follow grid craft growth from sprite tactics to HD maps.

Good to know

Play in release order. The stories reset with new casts in Ishtaria and Natra, so there is no strict timeline order and release order keeps mechanics clear. Vandal Hearts II splits routes by late dialogue choice, so keep release order for the first run and save branching for replay. No new entry has appeared since the 2010 PSP port work, so the run stands complete with the 1996 original, its 1999 sequel and Flames of Judgment closing the set.
