About Viewtiful Joe

Viewtiful Joe follows Joe, a movie fan pulled into films as a henshin hero who slows and zooms action with VFX powers. Clover Studio made the 2003 original and its 2004 sequel as stylish side scroll brawlers, then added the Red Hot Rumble fighter spinoff and the DS touch sequel Double Trouble.

Play the original, then part two, then Double Trouble. Red Hot Rumble is a party fighter side story and can be played any time after part one. The first two games share slow zoom puzzles and boss rhythms, so part two assumes original habits. Double Trouble maps powers to touch and plays best with that base.

Good to know

Story order matches release order for the main three, because Silvia and Junior arcs continue across them. Red Hot Rumble remixes bosses as fighters and skips plot weight, so it stays optional. The GameCube and PS2 versions differ slightly in extras but share levels. No new Viewtiful Joe has shipped since Double Trouble in 2005.
