About Xeno
Xeno groups three unofficial branches sharing themes but no story. Xenogears from 1998 stands alone as the PS1 epic cut short at episode five of six. Xenosaga runs Episodes I to III from 2002 to 2006 as one trilogy about Shion and KOS-MOS, shortened from six. Xenoblade runs Chronicles, X, 2 with Torna, and 3 with Future Redeemed from 2010 onward as Nintendo's ongoing branch.
Play inside one branch at a time. Saga's trilogy needs numerical order, Blade's numbered games reward release order with X standalone anywhere, and Gears needs nothing at all. The branches connect only through motifs and the prefix, so cross-branch order is free. Genesis is listed for 2027 as the next Blade-adjacent entry.
Good to know
Treat Gears, Saga and Blade as three series that happen to share a prefix. Starting with Xenoblade Chronicles is the modern recommended entry, while Gears suits retro JRPG appetites and Saga suits trilogy completists. Torna plays best after Xenoblade 2 despite its prequel setting. Genesis has a 2027 listing but no release yet, so the list waits on it.
