About Dirty Harry
Inspector Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) polices San Francisco with a .44 Magnum and little patience for procedure. Don Siegel launched the series in 1971 with a story shaped by the Zodiac killings, and Eastwood played Callahan in all five films while directing the fourth himself.
Release order matches story order, with gaps of up to seven years between entries. The run closed with The Dead Pool in 1988, and no sixth film has ever been announced.
