About Dirty Harry
Dirty Harry from 1971 introduces Clint Eastwood's Inspector Harry Callahan hunting the Scorpio killer through San Francisco. A box-office smash that defined the cop film, it gave movies one of their most quoted lines.
Four sequels followed Callahan across 17 years: Magnum Force in 1973, The Enforcer in 1976, Sudden Impact in 1983 and The Dead Pool in 1988. Eastwood directed the fourth himself. Watch all five in order. Partners change and the city darkens film by film, which only reads in sequence.
Good to know
Release order is story order across Callahan's career. The films lighten and darken by turns, with Sudden Impact playing as Eastwood's personal statement on the character.
