About DreamWorks

DreamWorks Animation began with Antz and The Prince of Egypt in 1998, then found its voice with Shrek in 2001, a fairy-tale spoof that won the first animation Oscar. Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon each grew into long franchises, while one-offs like The Prince of Egypt and The Wild Robot show the studio's serious side. The 2010s added Rise of the Guardians, The Croods, Home and Trolls to the shelf.

Recent years brought Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022), Ruby Gillman (2023), Dog Man and The Bad Guys 2 (both 2025), plus Forgotten Island in September 2026. The films share no continuity outside their own sequels, so release order is the whole answer. Follow it straight through and the house style shifts from snark to sincerity in front of you.

Good to know

This lists the studio's theatrical animated features only, leaving out the direct-to-video Joseph: King of Dreams (2000) and the TV specials. Aardman co-productions released by DreamWorks, like Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit, are included since they belong to the release sequence. Shrek 5 is dated June 30, 2027, with a Donkey spinoff set for 2028. Watch each franchise in release order and skip around freely otherwise.
