About Dumbo
Dumbo is Disney's flying elephant fable about big ears lifting off. Dumbo from October 1941 runs 64 minutes with Timothy mouse, crows and the feather trick. Dumbo from March 2019 by Tim Burton expands to the Medici circus with Holt kids and Vandevere park.
The feather, flight and bully beats reset with new humans. The remake assumes you know the ear gag that made the original fly. Each film plays alone once you know the trunk setup. The circus crowds return bigger with new tents and the same loud cheers.
Good to know
There is no shared circus between the films, so either works alone once you know Dumbo. Release order is still the best default because the remake riffs on the classic. Start with the 1941 original for the feather trick, then take Burton for the expansion. The feather trick still opens every flight for Dumbo.
