About Eric Rohmer
Eric Rohmer built his name on the Six Moral Tales, and this guide includes all six plus four later highlights. It opens with the shorts The Bakery Girl of Monceau in 1963 and Suzanne's Career in 1963, then moves through La Collectionneuse in 1967, My Night at Maud's in 1969, Claire's Knee in 1970 and Love in the Afternoon in 1972. Each tale follows a man torn between one woman and another, told mostly through talk.
The later run covers The Marquise of O in 1976, Pauline at the Beach in 1983, The Green Ray in 1986 and My Girlfriend's Boyfriend in 1987. Watch in release order. The films do not connect, and the sequence shows his shift from strict moral puzzles to sunny Comedies and Proverbs about love and choice.
Good to know
These are standalone stories with no shared continuity, so there is no separate chronological order worth listing. New viewers can start with My Night at Maud's or Claire's Knee, then try Pauline at the Beach. Rohmer died in 2010, so this run is complete. The two 1963 tales are shorts, and several titles circulate under alternate English names like The Collector and Chloe in the Afternoon.
