About Escape Plan
Escape Plan from 2013 follows security expert Ray Breslin as he is locked in a private prison and must break out with Rottmayer. Escape Plan 2 Hades from 2018 moves to a high tech maze prison with a new crew around Breslin. Escape Plan The Extractors from 2019 closes the run with a kidnapping rescue tied to the prison network.
Watch in release order. The first film had a theatrical run while the sequels went direct to video in the US, but story continuity stays straight. No fourth film has been announced, so the three form a closed trilogy.
Good to know
The sequels keep Breslin but rotate the supporting team, which makes the first film required and the rest easy to follow in order. Expect a step down in scale after 2013, since budgets moved to video for parts 2 and 3. The prison designs are the main draw across all three, with each film built around a new escape puzzle.
