About Federico Fellini

Federico Fellini started with Variety Lights in 1950, White Sheik in 1952 and I Vitelloni in 1953 about coast idlers. Variety Lights was co-directed with Alberto Lattuada on touring players, White Sheik follows a honeymoon fan of Fernando Rivoli, and I Vitelloni recalls Rimini idlers. La Strada arrived in 1954, Nights of Cabiria in 1957 and La Dolce Vita in 1960 with Rome press.

8 Half came in 1963 about director block, Juliet of the Spirits in 1965, Satyricon in 1969, Amarcord in 1973 about town memory and Intervista in 1987 as late visit. Juliet follows Giulietta Masina through seances, Satyricon adapts Petronius Rome, Amarcord recalls 1930s Rimini and Intervista revisits Cinecitta. Fellini died in 1993. Watch in release order for road to dream growth with full weight.

Good to know

These are standalone stories with no shared continuity, so there is no chronological order to untangle at all. La Strada and Cabiria share Giulietta Masina soul but no plot links. Amarcord plays best after early road films. Nights of Cabiria won the Oscar for foreign film and sets up Dolce Vita Rome cynicism with clear payoff. Start with Strada, Dolce Vita or 8 Half for three doors in with care.
