About Final Destination
Final Destination ran five films from 2000 to 2011 as a loop of premonitions and elaborate demises, then returned after fourteen years. The original through The Final Destination follow separate survivor groups learning the rules, and Final Destination 5 closes the loop with a twist that ties back to the start.
Bloodlines from May 2025 revived the series with a family-curse story, a franchise-best $51.7 million opening, and a $316 million worldwide run. A seventh film is confirmed in development with Bloodlines co-writer Lori Evans Taylor returning, but it carries no date yet.
Good to know
Release order works for a first watch, since each film reteaches the rules with a new cast. Story order only changes one thing: Final Destination 5 sits first as a prequel to the original. Bloodlines fits last in either path as a generational sequel, and the confirmed seventh film stays yearless until New Line dates it.
