About Happy Ghost
Happy Ghost from 1984 follows Scholar ghost Hong Sum-kwai bonded to student Pik with exam chaos and sports day gags at Hong Kong school. Happy Ghost II from 1985 moves the same ghost to new students with concert plots and a water festival rescue.
Happy Ghost III from 1986 brings a female ghost singer seeking rebirth with Tsui Hark ties, Happy Ghost IV from 1990 turns to an infant rebirth with daycare comedy, and Happy Ghost V from 1991 closes with the afterlife office trial. All share Raymond Wong comedy with loose ties. Watch in release order since gags stack. The run closed in 1991 with no revival.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological order for Happy Ghost worth listing, since each film resets students and release order is the intended path. The Scholar bond repeats on purpose across schools and concert plots, so the comedy lands in viewing order. Watch the 1984 original first, then take sequels as fun variations.
