About Hocus Pocus
Hocus Pocus opens in 1693 Salem with the Sanderson sisters hanged, then jumps to 1993 as teens light the Black Flame Candle and revive them. The 1993 film ends with the sisters turned to dust at sunrise.
Hocus Pocus 2 from 2022 revives them again in modern Salem with a new trio of teens and a 1653 origin cold open. The Freeform anniversary bash and the Chibi short are optional extras around the films. A third film is officially in development with the trio returning but no date. Watch the two films in order.
Good to know
Release order is story order from 1993 to 2022 with a third film pending. The 2018 anniversary bash is a TV celebration rather than a story chapter, and the Chibi short is a two-minute retelling. Hocus Pocus 3 is confirmed in development with the director and writer attached but no premiere date. Start with the 1993 original, since the sequel assumes its spell rules.
