About House of the Dead

House of the Dead from 2003 adapts the Sega shooter as a rave island outbreak, directed by Uwe Boll. It premiered in February 2003 and reached the US that October through Artisan, earning 13.8 million on a 12 million budget.

House of the Dead 2 from 2005 moves to a college campus with an AMS unit chasing the zero sample, airing on Sci Fi in February 2006. Paul W.S. Anderson signed in October 2024 to write and direct a reboot adapting the third game, with Isabela Merced set to lead as of February 2026, but no date exists.

Good to know

Watch the 2003 film, then the 2005 sequel. Only Ellie Cornell returns, so expect a new squad with the same Curien virus rules. The reboot adapts House of the Dead 3 with Lisa Rogan, which would jump ahead in game story, so it stays yearless until Sega dates the shoot. Dead and Deader was once aimed as part 3 but dropped the license.
