About Indian
Indian follows Senapathy, played by Kamal Haasan, freedom fighter turned vigilante using varma kalai against corruption. S. Shankar directed the 1996 cult original. Indian 2 arrived July 12, 2024 from Lyca with Siddharth, S.J. Suryah and Rakul Preet Singh, running 180 minutes on a 250 crore budget to about 150 crore gross.
Indian 3 was shot largely with part 2 across 2019 to 2024, then went quiet after part 2 flopped. Lyca revived it October 8, 2026 with War Mode posters showing three riders. Patchwork and VFX remain with filming resuming for a Pongal 2027 target. Kajal Aggarwal appears only in part 3, teased at part 2 end.
Good to know
Watch Indian 1996, then Indian 2 2024, then Indian 3 when dated. Part 2 brings Senapathy back from abroad to aid students and ends on cliffhanger. Part 3 mixes sequel framing with British era prequel about father Veerasekaran. The crane accident in 2020 and COVID stretched the shoot to five years. Keep release order throughout.
