About Insidious
Insidious follows the Lambert family haunting in a shuffled timeline that release order handles best. The 2010 original plus Chapter 2 from 2013 close Josh's story, then Chapters 3 and 4 rewind to Elise's earlier cases, and The Red Door from 2023 jumps ahead to Dalton's college years.
Out of the Further arrived August 21, 2026 as the sixth film with Lin Shaye returning, shifting focus to new faces with Elise guiding. The spin-off Thread remains undated, so the six films form the current path with the spin-off as a future extra.
Good to know
Release order suits a first watch, since the prequels assume you fear the Further already. Story order runs 3, 4, 1, 2, Red Door, then the new film, which works for returns once the twists are known.
