About Jeremy Saulnier
Jeremy Saulnier started with Murder Party in 2007, a Brooklyn Halloween comedy shot with friends. Blue Ruin followed in 2013 as a beach revenge story funded partly through Kickstarter, then Green Room in 2015 trapped a punk band in a white power bar with Patrick Stewart.
Hold the Dark arrived in 2018 as a bleak Alaska hunt with wolves at the edge, and Rebel Ridge in 2024 put Aaron Pierre against a small town seizure scam on Netflix. The films share a harsh tone and Macon Blair in early roles but no plot links at all.
Good to know
Each film is standalone, so watch oldest to newest. Blue Ruin and Green Room pair well as a tense double bill of bad plans getting worse. Hold the Dark is the hardest watch of the five by far and needs a clear head. No next feature has a date yet, so the 2024 Netflix film stays last until one is announced.
