About Kevin Smith
Kevin Smith (1994 to 2024) spans the Askewniverse hangout comedies and the True North horror trilogy. Start with Clerks (1994), Mallrats (1995), Chasing Amy (1997) and Dogma (1999) for the Quick Stop universe. Continue through Clerks II (2006) and the horror turn of Red State (2011) and Tusk (2014), closing with Clerks III (2022).
Watch in release order since Jay and Silent Bob age across cameos into leads. The Askew films share the same New Jersey stores and angels logic. Red State through Yoga Hosers form a separate horror detour with new casts. Clerks III reflects on youth and theaters, so it lands last as a memoir piece.
Good to know
The full path mixes 1990s slacker comedy with 2010s horror experiments, so expect sharp tone shifts after Clerks II. Red State, Tusk and Yoga Hosers play as a loose True North set outside Askew canon. The 4:30 Movie (2024) is his most personal theater tale. Watch the Askew run first for the heart, then the horror detour, closing with Clerks III and 4:30 as farewell chapters.
