About Police Academy
Police Academy began in 1984 with open enrollment filling the academy with Mahoney, Hightower, Tackleberry, Hooks, Fackler and Sweetchuck. Sequels moved the cadets through the streets (1985), back to training citizens (1986), Citizens on Patrol (1987), Miami Beach (1988), City Under Siege (1989) and Mission to Moscow (1994).
Steve Guttenberg left after the fourth film while the rest rotated through Moscow. No eighth film has been announced despite reunion talk, with the 1994 finale standing as the close and the 1988 animated series as its only spinoff.
Good to know
Watch one through seven in release order, since Harris and Proctor's vendetta and the cadet promotions assume sequence. Quality slides after Miami Beach, so treat the later films as reunion comfort rather than peak comedy. The animated series shares voices with the films but tells standalone academy tales, safe as an extra after the movies.
