About Naked Gun
The Naked Gun began as the 1982 Police Squad! series with six episodes of deadpan detective work. The Files of the Naked Gun (1988) sends Frank Drebin, played by Leslie Nielsen, after the Queen's would-be assassin. The Smell of Fear (1991) covers the energy plot, and 33 1/3 (1994) closes his run with the Oscar-night bomb.
The Naked Gun (2025) from Akiva Schaffer reboots with Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr. beside Pamela Anderson, grossing past $100 million. The sequel setup in its ending keeps the door open, with Paramount treating the reboot as a new run rather than a one-off.
Good to know
Watch Police Squad! first as the six-episode origin, then the three Nielsen films in order, then the 2025 reboot last. The reboot assumes the original's legend without continuing its plot, so newcomers can start there in a pinch. Visual gags reward full attention, which makes the credits scenes worth staying through on every entry.
