About Lance Comfort

Lance Comfort was one of the busiest British B directors, moving between crime, drama and late horror without much press attention. This list starts with the courtroom drama Eight O'Clock Walk, then picks up his early 1960s thriller run: Pit of Darkness, Rag Doll and Tomorrow at Ten, all compact stories about memory, money and blackmail. Blind Corner follows a blind composer caught in a marriage plot.

The set ends with Devils of Darkness, his 1965 vampire tale, which shows where his career pointed before his death in 1966. The films are standalone, so release order is simply the clearest path. Together they show his plain, fast style: short running times, location shooting and plots that reach the point without delay.

Good to know

Dating on these second features can vary by a year between sources. Tomorrow at Ten is listed here as 1962 and Blind Corner as 1964, matching their first British releases. Comfort made more than thirty features plus television, so comedies, the Ivanhoe episodes and music films like Live It Up are left out. Keep to the six below in order for a crime led sample that ends on his horror coda.
