About Lucio Fulci
Lucio Fulci spent the 1960s on comedies and westerns before his giallo run gave us A Lizard in a Woman's Skin (1971) and Don't Torture a Duckling (1972), both nasty and mournful at once. The Psychic (1977) is a cleaner tarot-card mystery, and Zombie (1979) answered Romero with a shark-fighting shocker that made Fulci's name abroad. City of the Living Dead (1980) opened his Gates of Hell run.
The Black Cat, The Beyond and The House by the Cemetery all arrived in 1981, a single-year burst of rotting Louisiana hotels and haunted New England basements. The New York Ripper (1982) and Manhattan Baby (1982) closed the peak, with Murder-Rock (1984) and A Cat in the Brain (1990) trailing into the late career. Watch in release order. Nothing connects except the dread.
Good to know
Fulci died in 1996, so this guide is complete. Zombie is also sold as Zombi 2 and Zombie Flesh Eaters, which confuses sequel numbering, so check the year 1979 before pressing play. These are twelve picks from a fifty-plus directing filmography, centered on the horror peak. Expect strong gore and dated effects. Dubbed versions are the common way most viewers meet these films.
