George Miller directed all five films, with Mel Gibson as Max through 1985 and Tom Hardy taking over for Fury Road (2015).
Furiosa (May 24, 2024) is a prequel with Anya Taylor-Joy that leads directly into Fury Road.
Good to know
Miller calls the films legends with no strict chronology, so release order works for a first watch. The Wasteland prequel about Max before Fury Road has a written novella basis, but Miller said in February 2025 he may do other films first, so treat it as tentative.
