About Mad Max

Mad Max follows Max Rockatansky out of order by design, which is why both lists matter. The original trilogy ran from 1979 to 1985 through the Road Warrior and Thunderdome, then Fury Road from 2015 rebooted the myth with older Max meeting Furiosa.

Furiosa from 2024 rewinds to her youth as a prequel to Fury Road. Creator George Miller has discussed a further Max film under the Wasteland title, but nothing has been dated, so Fury Road stays the practical endpoint with Furiosa as its backstory. The chrome-and-fire aesthetic starts here and never leaves.

Good to know

Release order works for a first watch, since each film restages Max as a legend rather than continuing a strict plot. Story order puts Furiosa first as the earliest tale, then the original trilogy, then Fury Road last. The Wasteland project carries no date, so the guide ends at Furiosa until Miller actually schedules it.
