About Masters of the Universe (films)
Masters of the Universe on film is two takes nearly forty years apart. The 1987 original stars Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, dragging Eternia's war with Skeletor to small-town Earth on a Cannon budget, and became a cult rental staple. The 2026 reboot with Nicholas Galitzine retells Prince Adam's origin with modern fantasy scale.
The films share nothing but the property, so watch in release order as two separate starts. The animated series (covered in the He-Man guide) are their own continuities and no homework for either film. The 1987 film's low-budget inventiveness is the charm; the reboot plays the mythology straight.
