About Mike Flanagan
Mike Flanagan started with the Kickstarter-funded Absentia in 2011 about a tunnel linked to disappearances, then expanded his Oculus short into the 2013 mirror feature with Karen Gillan. Hush arrived in 2016 as a home invasion told with little dialogue, followed the same year by Before I Wake and Ouija: Origin of Evil.
Gerald's Game followed in 2017 as a single-room Stephen King adaptation, Doctor Sleep in 2019 as the Shining sequel with Ewan McGregor, and The Life of Chuck in 2025 as three chapters told in reverse. His Netflix series are separate stories and are not required for the films.
Good to know
Watch the films in release order since each is standalone with no shared plot. Hush, Before I Wake and Ouija all landed in 2016, so keep that trio in the listed sequence. The Haunting shows, Midnight Mass and Usher are separate television work. The Exorcist film dated for 2027 sits last once it releases and is tracked separately until then.
