About Monsterverse
Legendary's Monsterverse pits Godzilla and Kong against rival Titans across five released films, from Godzilla (2014) to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024). The series has passed $2.5 billion at the global box office. A sixth film is dated.
Release order works best for newcomers. Kong: Skull Island is the one wrinkle. It came out second but its story opens in 1973, decades before Godzilla 2014. This guide gives both orders.
Good to know
This is a films-only guide. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV) fits between films: season one premiered November 17, 2023 with its present-day story in 2015, and season two ran February 27 to May 1, 2026 with present-day scenes in 2017. Watch it after Godzilla vs. Kong for the full picture. The Netflix animated Skull Island series (2023) is optional. Supernova's March 2027 date comes from Legendary's official listing.
