About Night at the Museum
Ben Stiller plays Larry Daley, a night guard who learns the exhibits of New York's Museum of Natural History come alive after dark. The first film (2006) stays in that museum, Battle of the Smithsonian (2009) moves the chaos to Washington, and Secret of the Tomb (2014) closes Larry's arc in London.
Kahmunrah Rises Again (2022) is an animated Disney+ sequel that shifts focus to Larry's son Nick. Release order works for the whole set, since the cartoon assumes you already know the tablet rules.
Good to know
Secret of the Tomb was the final film appearance for both Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney. A reimagining with new characters is in development at 20th Century Studios: Tripper Clancy was hired to write it in July 2025, with Shawn Levy and Dan Levine producing. No director, cast, or date has been announced.
